Definice / Vysvětlení
Superlatives nám pomáhají mluvit o nejvyšší nebo nejnižší míře v rámci skupiny. U krátkých přídavných jmen často používáme -est a u delších most. Takto říkáme, že je něco v určitém ohledu „nej“, například the biggest, the cheapest nebo the most interesting. Superlatives jsou běžné při popisu míst, lidí a osobních voleb.
Klíčová pravidla
- U mnoha krátkých přídavných jmen používej the + -est: the smallest, the oldest.
- U mnoha delších přídavných jmen používej the most: the most beautiful, the most friendly.
- Před superlative obvykle používáme the.
- Superlatives používej, když porovnáváš jednu věc se skupinou: the biggest room in the house.
- Některá přídavná jména mění pravopis: big -> biggest, happy -> happiest.

- This is the most comfortable chair here. - Tohle je tady nejpohodlnější židle.

- He is the tallest boy in the class. - On je nejvyšší chlapec ve třídě.
