Definition / Erklärung
Englisch hat viele reporting verbs, aber sie folgen nicht alle demselben Grammatikmuster. Manche nehmen ein direktes Objekt, manche to + infinitive, manche eine that-clause, manche verb-ing. Deshalb reicht Bedeutung allein nicht aus; man muss auch das zum Verb gehörende Muster lernen. Zum Beispiel nehmen advise, invite und tell oft Objekt plus to-infinitive. Das falsche Muster kann unnatürlich klingen, auch wenn die Grundidee klar ist.
Wichtige Regeln
- say wird meist von einer that-clause gefolgt: He said that...
- tell braucht meist ein Objekt: He told me that...
- Manche Verben nehmen object + to-infinitive: advise me to apply, tell her to wait.
- Manche Verben werden von verb-ing gefolgt: admit doing, suggest going.
- Lerne reporting verbs als Grammatik-Chunks, nicht als einzelne Wörter.
Beispiele
- He told me to wait. - Er sagte mir, ich solle warten.
- She advised me to apply. - Sie riet mir, mich zu bewerben.
- They said that they were ready. - Sie sagten, dass sie bereit seien.
- He suggested going by train. - Er schlug vor, mit dem Zug zu fahren.
- She admitted making a mistake. - Sie gab zu, einen Fehler gemacht zu haben.
Häufige Fehler
- ❌ He said me to wait. -> ✅ He told me to wait.
- ❌ She advised me apply. -> ✅ She advised me to apply.
- ❌ He suggested to go by train. -> ✅ He suggested going by train.
