should (advice)

Definition / Explanation

We use should to give advice, suggestions, or a gentle opinion about the best thing to do. It is softer than must and does not usually mean a strong rule. For example, You should rest sounds helpful, not strict. We also use shouldn't to say that something is not a good idea. After should, the next verb stays in the base form.
