Palabras como it y there ayudan a conectar oraciones de forma fluida. It suele referirse a una cosa o idea que ya mencionamos, para no repetir el mismo sustantivo una y otra vez. There suele usarse para introducir la existencia de algo, como en There is a problem. Estas palabras no añaden mucho significado por sí solas, pero hacen que el inglés suene natural y bien conectado. Son importantes tanto al hablar como al escribir.
Reglas clave
- Usa it para referirte a una cosa, idea o situación ya conocida: I bought a phone. It was cheap.
- Usa there is / there are para decir que algo existe.
- No repitas el mismo sustantivo una y otra vez si it está claro.
- It también puede usarse para clima, hora y distancia: It is raining. It is late.
- There aquí no es un adverbio de lugar; en este punto suele introducir existencia.
