Reported questions transforman una pregunta directa en una estructura incrustada dentro de una cláusula de reporte. El orden de palabras pasa a ser el de una afirmación, así que no usamos inversión interrogativa normal. Las preguntas de sí/no suelen usar if o whether, mientras las preguntas informativas mantienen su palabra interrogativa. El verbo ask es común en este patrón, aunque también se usan verbos como wonder. El reto principal es cambiar tanto el orden de palabras como, cuando hace falta, el tiempo verbal.
Reglas clave
- Usa ask, wonder o un verbo similar para introducir la pregunta reportada.
- Para preguntas sí/no, usa if o whether.
- Para wh-questions, conserva la wh-word: where, why, how, etc.
- Usa orden de afirmación: He asked where I lived, no where did I live.
- No uses do/does/did en reported questions salvo que forme parte del significado original.

Errores comunes
- ❌ She asked if was I ready. -> ✅ She asked if I was ready.
- ❌ He asked where did I live. -> ✅ He asked where I lived.
- ❌ They asked that we could help. -> ✅ They asked whether we could help.
