Definizione / Spiegazione
Il Past Simple parla di un'azione conclusa in un tempo passato finito. Il Present Perfect parla di un'azione passata con collegamento al presente, oppure di un'azione in cui il tempo finito esatto non è indicato. Questo contrasto è importante perché entrambi i tempi si riferiscono al passato, ma rispondono a domande diverse. Il Past Simple risponde a When did it happen?. Il Present Perfect risponde a idee come Has it happened in your life, this week, or up to now?
Regole chiave
- Usa il Past Simple con espressioni di tempo finite: yesterday, last week, in 2019.
- Usa il Present Perfect quando il tempo esatto non è dato o quando il risultato conta ora.

- They did not finish the job yesterday, but they have finished it now. - Ieri non hanno finito il lavoro, ma ora l'hanno finito.
