Usiamo there is e there are per dire che qualcosa esiste o è disponibile. Questa struttura ci aiuta a introdurre cose in un luogo, non a descriverle direttamente. Usa there is con i nomi singolari e there are con i nomi plurali. È molto comune quando si parla di stanze, città, cibo, mobili e situazioni quotidiane.
Regole chiave
- Usa there is con un nome singolare: There is a chair.
- Usa there are con un nome plurale: There are two chairs.
- Il soggetto reale viene dopo there is/are.
- Usa a/an o un numero quando serve: There is a park. / There are three parks.
- Questa struttura è spesso seguita da un'espressione di luogo: There is a cafe near here.
