dependent prepositions は、特定の語に習慣的に結びつく前置詞です。depend on, interested in, responsible for のように、動詞・形容詞・名詞とセットで覚える必要があります。論理だけでは予測しづらく、語彙知識として習得するのが基本です。間違っても意味は通じる場合がありますが、不自然さが残ります。
主要ルール
- 形容詞 + 前置詞: afraid of, famous for, interested in。
- 名詞 + 前置詞: interest in, reason for, solution to。
- 動詞 + 前置詞: depend on, belong to, suffer from。
- 前置詞は論理だけで推測しない。
- キーワードだけでなく句全体で学ぶ。
