定義 / 解説
continuous passive は、動作が進行中であることを示しつつ、行為者ではなく影響を受ける対象に焦点を置く形です。主要形は is being + past participle と was being + past participle。作業過程そのものを伝えたいときに有効で、ニュース、報告、進行中作業の説明でよく使われます。 simple passive よりも「まだ進行中」の含みが強くなります。
主要ルール
- 現在進行受動: am/is/are being + past participle。
- 過去進行受動: was/were being + past participle。
- 進行中の行為で、受け手を主題にするときに使う。
- 行為者が不明・自明・不要なときに自然。
- 能動文の方が明確なら無理に受動にしない。

- The road is being repaired. - その道路は修理中です。
- The report was being written when I arrived. - 私が着いたとき、その報告書は書かれている途中でした。
- New houses are being built near the station. - 駅の近くで新しい家が建てられています。
- The patient was being examined by a doctor. - その患者は医師の診察を受けているところでした。
- Our request is being checked now. - 私たちの依頼は今確認されています。
よくある間違い
