定義 / 解説
reporting verbs は意味だけでなく、後続する文型が動詞ごとに異なります。目的語を取るもの、to-infinitive を取るもの、that-clause を取るもの、verb-ing を取るものがあります。したがって語義だけで選ぶと不自然な文になりやすく、文型ごと覚える必要があります。
主要ルール
- say は通常 that-clause: He said that...
- tell は通常目的語が必要: He told me that...
- object + to-infinitive を取る動詞: advise me to apply, tell her to wait。
- verb-ing を取る動詞: admit doing, suggest going。
- reporting verbs は語彙単体でなくパターンとして学ぶ。

- He told me to wait. - 彼は私に待つよう言いました。
- She advised me to apply. - 彼女は私に応募するよう助言しました。
- They said that they were ready. - 彼らは準備できていると言いました。
- He suggested going by train. - 彼は電車で行くことを提案しました。

よくある間違い
- ❌ He said me to wait. -> ✅ He told me to wait.
