정의 / 설명
say/think/know/believe/hope/be sure 뒤의 that은 자주 생략됩니다. 의미 차이는 거의 없지만 문체와 명확성에 영향이 있습니다.
핵심 규칙
- 많은 사고/보고 동사 뒤에서 that 생략 가능
- 회화/중립 문체에서는 생략이 자연스럽다.
- 절이 길거나 복잡하면 that을 남기는 편이 명확하다.
- 일부 구조에서는 생략 불가/부자연 가능
- 관계절에서 that이 주어인 경우는 생략하지 않는다.

자주 하는 실수
- ❌ The book won the prize was expensive. -> ✅ The book that won the prize was expensive.
- ❌ It depends that we have enough time. -> ✅ It depends on whether we have enough time.
- ❌ She said me that to wait. -> ✅ She told me to wait. / ✅ She said (that) I should wait.
