정의 / 설명
관계절에서 전치사를 처리하는 방식은 크게 두 가지입니다. 일상체는 전치사를 뒤로 보내고, 격식체는 관계대명사 앞에 둡니다.
핵심 규칙
- 일상형: the person I spoke to
- 격식형: the person to whom I spoke
- whom은 주로 격식 문어에서 전치사 뒤에 사용
- that/zero 앞에는 전치사 전치 불가
- register(문체 수준)에 맞춰 선택

- The colleague I spoke to agreed. - 제가 이야기한 동료는 동의했습니다.
- The colleague to whom I spoke agreed. - 제가 이야기한 그 동료는 동의했습니다.
- This is the room we met in. - 여기가 우리가 만난 방입니다.

자주 하는 실수
- ❌ The colleague to that I spoke agreed. -> ✅ The colleague to whom I spoke agreed.
- ❌ This is the room in that we met. -> ✅ This is the room in which we met. / ✅ This is the room we met in.
- ❌ The topic in she is interested is complex. -> ✅ The topic she is interested in is complex.
