Reporting passives ช่วยรายงานข้อมูลโดยไม่ต้องระบุแหล่งที่มาเฉพาะในประโยคหลัก พบบ่อยในข่าว งานวิชาการ และบทวิจารณ์ทางการ ที่แหล่งอาจไม่ชัดหรือไม่สำคัญกว่าข้อความ รูปหลักคือ It is said that... และ He is believed to... แบบแรกให้โทนไม่ระบุผู้พูด ส่วนแบบที่สองเน้นบุคคล/สิ่งที่ถูกกล่าวถึง โครงสร้างนี้ช่วยให้โทนดูเป็นกลางและมีระยะห่าง
กฎสำคัญ
- ใช้ It is said/thought/reported/believed that... สำหรับการรายงานแบบ impersonal
- ใช้ subject + be + past participle + to-infinitive เมื่ออยากโฟกัส subject: She is believed to live abroad.
- ใช้ to have + past participle หากเหตุการณ์ที่รายงานเกิดก่อน: He is believed to have left.
- รูปนี้ทางการกว่า People say that...
- เหมาะเมื่อไม่ระบุแหล่งข่าวเฉพาะ

ข้อผิดพลาดที่พบบ่อย
- ❌ He is believed that he left. -> ✅ He is believed to have left.
- ❌ It is said him to be honest. -> ✅ He is said to be honest.
- ❌ She is thought that she knows the answer. -> ✅ She is thought to know the answer.
