Phrasal verbs จำนวนมากใช้บ่อยในภาษาอังกฤษชีวิตประจำวัน และมักฟังไม่เป็นทางการกว่าคำเดี่ยว เช่น put off มักสนทนากว่า postpone, sort out มักไม่ทางการกว่า resolve อย่างไรก็ตามไม่ได้หมายความว่า phrasal verbs เป็นภาษาพูดเสมอทุกกรณี ที่ระดับ B2 ควรดูทั้งความหมายและระดับภาษา (register) แล้วเลือกให้เหมาะกับบริบท ผู้ฟัง และเป้าหมายการสื่อสาร
กฎสำคัญ
- Phrasal verbs มักพบบ่อยในภาษาพูดและงานเขียนไม่เป็นทางการ
- คำเดี่ยวมักฟังทางการหรือเชิงวิชาการมากกว่า
- แม้แปลใกล้กัน ความหมายใช้งานอาจไม่เท่ากันเป๊ะ
- เลือกรูปให้เหมาะกับผู้รับสารและจุดประสงค์
- อย่าหลีกเลี่ยง phrasal verbs ทั้งหมด เพราะเป็นส่วนธรรมชาติของภาษาอังกฤษ

- ❌ We had to postpone off the meeting. -> ✅ We had to put off the meeting. / ✅ We had to postpone the meeting.
- ❌ I found out the truth. -> ✅ I found out the truth.
