Register คือการเลือกภาษาที่เหมาะกับสถานการณ์ ผู้ฟัง และเป้าหมาย ที่ระดับ B2 มักเกี่ยวกับการเลือกระหว่าง contractions กับ full forms, phrasal verbs กับคำเดี่ยวทางการ และคำทั่วไปกับคำเชิงวิชาการ เช่น it's not possible อาจเหมาะในหลายบริบท แต่ it is not possible อาจเหมาะกว่าในงานเขียนทางการ การเลือก register ที่ดีไม่ใช่แค่ถูกไวยากรณ์ แต่ต้อง "เหมาะสม"
กฎสำคัญ
- Contractions ใช้บ่อยในภาษาพูดและงานเขียนไม่เป็นทางการ: I'm, don't, it's
- Full forms มักเหมาะกว่าในบริบททางการหรือเชิงวิชาการ
- Phrasal verbs มักไม่เป็นทางการกว่าคำเดี่ยว
- งานเขียนทางการมักชอบคำอย่าง obtain, increase, assist, therefore
- Register ต้องสม่ำเสมอ อย่าผสมภาษาสบายมากกับทางการมากโดยไม่มีเหตุผล
ตัวอย่าง

ข้อผิดพลาดที่พบบ่อย
- ❌ The report says, "We'll sort out the issue soon." -> ✅ The report says, "We will resolve the issue soon."
- ❌ It is a formal essay, but the writer keeps using "can't" and "find out" everywhere. -> ✅ In a formal essay, prefer "cannot" and "determine" where appropriate.
- ❌ The email is very formal, but it also says, "Hey, we're gonna fix it." -> ✅ Keep the register consistent: "We will resolve the issue."
