Dependent prepositions, bazı sözcüklerle birlikte sabit gelen preposition'lardır. Sıkça fiillerden, sıfatlardan ve isimlerden sonra görülür: depend on, interested in, responsible for gibi. Bu birleşimler kısmen dilbilgisel, kısmen sözlükseldir; bu yüzden öğrenenlerin bunları kalıp olarak ezberlemesi gerekir. Yanlış preposition çoğu zaman anlaşılır, ama ana dil gibi duyulmaz ve kulağa garip gelebilir. B2 seviyesinde dependent prepositions'ın doğru kullanımı yazı ve konuşmada daha önemli hale gelir.
Temel Kurallar
- Birçok sıfat sabit preposition alır: afraid of, famous for, interested in.
- Birçok isim sabit preposition alır: interest in, reason for, solution to.
- Birçok fiil de sabit preposition alır: depend on, belong to, suffer from.
- Preposition seçimi her zaman mantıktan tahmin edilemez.
- Sadece ana sözcüğü değil, tüm ifadeyi öğrenin.
