Past Perfect 表示一个过去动作发生在另一个过去动作/时间之前。它常被称为“更早的过去”,能更清楚地组织两个过去时点。当先后顺序重要、或语境本身不足以说明顺序时,就需要它。它在叙事、解释和因果表达中很常见。没有 Past Perfect,时间线可能不清楚甚至引起误解。
关键规则
- 结构:had + past participle。
- 用于两个过去动作中“更早”的那个。
- “较晚”动作通常用 past simple。
- 常与 before, after, when, by the time, already 连用。
- 当顺序不明显时,用它来明确先后。

- I had left before she arrived. - 她到之前我已经离开了。
- They had never seen the sea before they moved there. - 在搬到那里之前,他们从没见过海。
- By the time we got home, the film had started. - 我们到家时,电影已经开始了。

常见错误
- ❌ I had left before she had arrived. -> ✅ I had left before she arrived.
- ❌ They had saw it before. -> ✅ They had seen it before.
- ❌ By the time we got there, the show started. -> ✅ By the time we got there, the show had started.
提示
- 不要因为句子里有两个过去动作就机械用 Past Perfect;只有在需要强调“更早发生”时才用。
